ABOUT ABOUT

The Celtic Society of Southern Maryland invites you to join us at the Ruddy Duck in Solomons Island, MD for our annual Celtic cultural dinner. This year, we will highlight Cornwall, a county in southwest England in the United Kingdom, bordered to the north and west by the Celtic Sea, and known to many far and wide for its cultural beauty, inspiring seascapes, as well as the recent BBC Poldark series.

We will begin this event with a relaxed social gathering starting at 5 pm, wherein there will be a Cornwall-inspired four-course meal specially designed for us by the Chef. Our event coordinator will share cultural stories, videos, and music from the region, so you will walk away with a newfound admiration for this faraway Celtic region. You may even be a lucky participant and win one of many special door prizes awarded throughout the evening. Your ticket includes an appetizer, soup, main meal (choice between Fish, Cornish Hen or Beef), dessert and non-alcoholic drinks.  Vegetarian requests will be adjusted to a lesser price at the venue.  Prizes will be given away after the meal. Additional food and beverage options will be available for purchase starting at 5:30 pm for those who desire something more.

Your ticket purchase includes your choice from the following menu items - Meal selections will be processed during checkout:

Course 1:  Lamb Pastie - The Cornish Pastie (or pasty) is a traditional English delight considered the national dish of Cornwall. It's a hand pie filled with beef or lamb, potato, swede (rutabaga) and onion

Course 2: Tomato Lentil Soup - a warming soup to knock off the damp sea-side chill

Course 3:  Choice of Fish, Cornish Hen or Beef - Beef or Cornish Hen (2 halves) roasted with potatoes and root vegetables; Fish over tomato chickpea paste with vegetables

Course 4: Soldier Fruit Cake - a lovely Cornish black fruit cake traditionally made in large batches to send to soldiers during WWII

Optional: Bread Rolls with butter upon request.

Come join us to experience the colorful culture of Cornwall in an intimate setting over a home-cooked Cornish meal!

Please note: All ticket Sales for this event will end November 6th.
